Summary: The Security Operations Manager is responsible for planning and coordinating security operations of the Hendrick organization including Hendrick Automotive Group, Hendrick Motorsports, Hendrick Motorsports Technical Solutions, and related entities. Duties may include overseeing the design of security systems and conducting security assessments and training. Overseeing loss prevention while supporting the organization’s loss prevention procedures and efforts to safeguard company assets, prevent and minimize theft, and reduce fraud. Coordination of both personal and group security for special events and travel. Conducting workplace investigations related to theft, fraud, or other potential criminal violations.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position regularly supervises third-party armed security personnel working at various company locations. On occasion, may coordinate the activities of outside consultants/vendors assisting with various security scenarios.

  • Reviews, revises, maintains, and implements the organization’s security policies and procedures.
  • Supervises and coordinates third-party armed security personnel working at various company locations.
  • Conducts annual inspections of all company locations to identify security risks; recommends and implements solutions.
  • Conducts asset protection audits and asset loss investigations.
  • Coordinates with private security vendors/consultants to meet domestic and international travel security needs.
  • Coordinates with local law enforcement and safety staff as required to support and/or conduct investigations.
  • Drafts and submits reports related to security operations.
  • Designs, develops, and implements security systems and protocols.
  • Monitors and responds to emergency situations.
  • Identifies potential threats to physical security, employee safety, and asset protection.
  • Provides training on security procedures and equipment.
  • Assists with budget development for security systems and hardware.
  • Develops and delivers security and loss prevention training programs for employees.
  • Oversees the installation of new security equipment such as surveillance cameras, and electronic security devices.
  • Ensures continued maintenance and timely repairs security systems and hardware.
  • Identifies, recommends, and implements systems to minimize loss of merchandise, money, or company assets.
  • Investigates suspicious customer and/or employee activity.
  • Research, suggest, and implement additional security measures as needed.

Job Requirements

Education/Experience:

Combination of education and experience that may include bachelor’s degree in law enforcement or related field and at five years of safety/security experience including civilian or military law enforcement training. Advanced training or certification in safety and security preferred. General knowledge of security procedures, systems, and equipment.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect and interpret complex data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Verbal and Writing Ability:

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees. Ability to conduct training.

Certificates and Licenses:

Valid Driver’s License is required.

Valid North Carolina concealed carry permit is required.

Bi-annual firearms proficiency evaluation is required.

Attendance Expectations:

The position requires regular and predictable attendance and flexibility to travel with limited notice. Schedule may include evening hours, weekends, and holidays.

Environment/Physical Demands

Duties are performed in both office and dealership environments with the potential for travel via car or plane. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times. Ability to travel throughout facility as required to conduct security investigations and inspections.
