Based in Freeport, NY, this role covers the NYC metro and surrounding areas, working on high-profile commercial and residential projects. Position Overview:

  • Title: Sr. Fire Alarm Technician
  • Location: Freeport, NY (Projects across 5 Boroughs, Long Island, and Westchester)
  • Hourly Rate: $30–$45/hr. (DOE)
  • Status: Full-time, On-site

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead installation, programming, testing, and commissioning of commercial fire alarm systems
  • Troubleshoot and repair fire alarm devices and control panels
  • Ensure compliance with FDNY, NFPA 72, NEC, and NYC Building Codes
  • Manage FDNY paperwork, inspections, and system approvals
  • Interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, and wiring schematics
  • Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and project managers on new installs
  • Supervise and mentor junior technicians to uphold quality and safety standards
  • Perform routine inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance
  • Maintain accurate documentation and closeout packages
  • Provide technical support and training to end-users
  • Support security, access control, CCTV, and networking systems as needed
  • Represent the company professionally with clients and FDNY inspectors

Job Requirements

Candidate Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience as a Fire Alarm Technician or related role
  • FDNY S-98 Certificate (preferred)
  • Manufacturer certifications (e.g., Siemens, Notifier) – a plus
  • OSHA 10/30 and NICET Level 3 certifications – preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication, and documentation skills
  • Proficiency in blueprint reading and troubleshooting complex systems
