Who we’re looking for

Toyota is looking for team members who are passionate about technology and interested in joining a collaborative and highly motivated team as a Safety Engineer - OneTech.

The primary responsibility of this role is to support and ensure that safety regulations, processes, and requirements are followed for the Cybersecurity and Connected Technologies lab.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Program, Governance, and Planning, the person in this role will join the Risk & Operations Management team to visualize and reduce Toyota’s safety risk by integrating cybersecurity, privacy, and compliance disciplines.

This position is based in Plano, TX. The selected candidate will be expected to reside within a commutable distance of this location.

Responsibilities

What you’ll be doing

  • Acts as functional CCT Lab Safety expert and works with internal Toyota groups such as IT business Partners to maintain safety compliance
  • Perform periodic audits of mandatory safety procedures and share results with the management team
  • Coordinate with the Quality Safety group to complete required procedures related to a lab environment
  • Coach Engineers working in the lab on hazard awareness and recognition
  • Develop and maintain operating procedures to represent the status of all safety requirements
  • Solves intermediate business problems within the team and projects
  • Takes a ‘functional’ approach to identify opportunities and supports the team in creating solutions
  • Capture and document daily safety procedures

Job Requirements

What you bring

  • 2-4 years of experience or a new college graduate with a bachelor’s degree
  • Display a thorough understanding of safety, company, and quality requirements. Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement mitigation plans.
  • Proactive, motivated individual who can self-manage and execute once given strategic direction, strong interpersonal skills—collaboration, building trust, and team player
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) to tailor messages to different audiences, presenting it clearly and concisely at the right altitude

Added bonus if you have

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or an IT-related  field
  • Experience in IT and/or Cybersecurity
  • Skills/hands-on technical proficiency: Experience managing and working in a lab
  • Additional certifications: Safety training
