Responsibilities
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior System Safety Engineer to lead and support the development and implementation of MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs. This role involves working across integrated product teams to identify, eliminate, or mitigate hazards, ensuring safety is embedded throughout the system lifecycle—from concept through disposal.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs.
- Perform system safety tasks and analyses across management (100 series), analysis (200 series), evaluation (300 series), and verification (400 series).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure safety requirements are integrated into hardware, software, and test designs.
- Coordinate with customer safety representatives to clarify system requirements and ensure horizontal integration across development teams.
- Support Program Management and government authorities throughout the program lifecycle.
- Conduct hazard analyses, design reviews, and safety briefings.
- Prepare internal and customer-facing reports detailing safety analyses and findings.
- Lead System Safety Working Groups with Raytheon and customer stakeholders.
Job Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math).
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Safety Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software, Electrical, or Firmware Engineering.
?Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with DoD System Safety Programs (MIL-STD-882, DO-178).
- Familiarity with Agile development environments and system/software safety implementation.
- Knowledge of Human Systems Integration and MIL-STD-1472 Human Factors Engineering.
- Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and proposal development.
- Understanding of Engineering Change Proposals, Engineering Review Boards, and System Safety Working Groups.
