WSP team is growing and we’re looking for a Vice President of Health and Safety, US Region to help provide support for project and offices across WSP markets. This position may work out of any WSP US office.

The Vice President of Health and Safety, US Region is a leadership role responsible for partnering with operations to ensure a safe and compliant work environment, promoting a culture of caring, and minimizing health and safety risks across the Region. Responsibilities

  • Responsible for partnering with regional leadership in meeting WSP’s HSE Goals and Objectives while being involved in some of the most exciting and high-profile projects within the United States and abroad
  • Develop and foster strong relationships with internal and external customers to promote a culture of caring.
  • Provide oversight of high-level contract safety plans and programmatic safety issues.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively with a broad range of individuals, from craft workers to senior management.
  • Experience providing support to multiple project sites simultaneously and managing a team of safety professionals.
  • Communicate effectively with employees, management, and external stakeholders on health and safety matters.
  • Develop and deliver health and safety training programs to various groups, ensuring employees are informed and equipped to adhere to safety protocols.
  • Review health and safety plans, including Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA), while addressing all potential workplace hazards.  
  • Support a fast-paced consulting business focused on a constant pipeline of moving and progressing projects, which is brilliant for career development and new experiences.
  • Perform field and office site health and safety inspections/audits, as necessary.  35% travel required.
  • Provide oversight, review of overall contract safety plan and occasional site-specific plans and programmatic safety issues.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct while adhering to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • 35% Travel.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent
  • 12+ years in safety and health related environment.
  • Broad knowledge of safety and occupational health principles, methods, and techniques.
  • Strong familiarity and knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and CFR 1926
  • Skilled in accident and incident investigation.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Skill in recognizing hazardous or potentially hazardous conditions, developing measures to eliminate or control these conditions and effectively communicating the appropriate measures to resolve these problems is essential.

  • Valid driver license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) credential and/or a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or equivalent preferred.
