Job Description
We’re seeking a Fire Inspector II to join our growing team at Urban37, Inc. In this 32-hour-per-week role, you’ll perform detailed fire inspections, conduct plan reviews for fire-related permits, and work directly with contractors, applicants, and City staff to promote life-safety and code compliance in every project.

Compensation
💼 Fire Inspector II: $50.00 – $65.00 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)
🕓 32 hours per week
Responsibilities
What You'll Do
- Conduct inspections of complex occupancies, including schools, assembly spaces, and other specialized facilities.
- Perform simple plan reviews for fire-related permits such as fire sprinklers, fire alarms, suppression systems, and hazardous-materials storage/use.
- Prepare inspection reports, maintain accurate records, and ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and procedures.
- Communicate with contractors, business owners, and applicants to identify and resolve deficiencies.
- Coordinate with Building, Planning, and other City departments as needed.
- Perform Fire Inspector I-level duties on a limited basis, including routine fire and life-safety inspections for new businesses and tenant-improvement projects.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- Experience performing fire inspections or fire-prevention work in municipal or consulting environments.
- Strong knowledge of the California Fire Code, NFPA standards, and related regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- ICC Fire Inspector II Certification (preferred)
- Ability to interpret and apply codes with accuracy, fairness, and consistency.
- Comfortable using inspection or permitting software (e.g., TRAKiT, Accela, EnerGov) or willing to learn.
