Total Safety is looking for an Industrial Firefighter / Paramedic / Rescue Specialist to add to our safety conscious team! The Industrial Firefighter / Paramedic / Rescue Specialist is responsible for providing advanced emergency medical care, fire suppression, technical rescue, and hazardous materials response within an industrial setting.  This role ensures the safety and well-being of employees, contractors, and facilities by delivering rapid, skilled responses during emergencies and by supporting proactive safety initiatives.

Responsibilities

Firefighting & Hazard Response

  • Respond to industrial fires, chemical releases, and other hazardous incidents.
  • Operate and maintain firefighting equipment, fire pumps, suppression systems, and SCBA.
  • Perform fire prevention inspections, hot work monitoring, and emergency system testing.
  • Assist with incident command and hazard assessment during fire and spill events.

Emergency Medical Services

  • Provide Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Life Support (ALS), and critical care as a licensed Paramedic.
  • Perform triage, treatment, and transport in alignment with OSHA, NFPA, NREMT, and local/state protocols.
  • Maintain medical equipment, supplies, and pharmaceuticals in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Complete accurate patient care documentation and participate in quality assurance reviews.

Technical Rescue

  • Conduct confined space, high-angle, trench, and industrial machinery rescues.
  • Safely utilize rescue tools including ropes, tripods, hydraulic cutters/spreaders, and retrieval systems.
  • Support planning and execution of emergency drills and exercises with site personnel.
  • Maintain rescue readiness through equipment inspection, preventative maintenance, and skills training.

Safety & Preparedness

  • Promote safety awareness and enforce industrial safety practices during routine operations.
  • Conduct equipment inspections and maintain operational readiness of firefighting/rescue tools.
  • Participate in safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
  • Provide input into emergency response planning and continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Requirements

Education & Certification

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or higher degree preferred).
  • Certified Firefighter I & II (NFPA 1001 or equivalent).
  • State-licensed Paramedic with current ACLS, PALS, and CPR certification.
  • Hazardous Materials Operations (NFPA 472/1072).
  • Technical Rescue certifications (confined space, rope rescue, trench, industrial machinery).
  • Valid driver’s license with clean record; EVOC preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in fire/rescue, EMS, or industrial emergency response.
  • Prior work in petrochemical, refinery, LNG, manufacturing, or heavy industrial environments is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in high-stress situations with strong decision-making skills.

Working Conditions

  • Industrial plant, refinery, LNG, or manufacturing environments.
  • Exposure to heat, fire, smoke, toxic atmospheres, heights, and confined spaces.
  • Rotational shifts, nights, weekends, and on-call as required.
  • PPE, including SCBA, bunker gear, medical PPE, and rescue harnesses, is required.
