Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Fire Protection Engineer to lead the design, analysis, and coordination of fire and life safety systems across a wide range of project types. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders. This role involves both technical design and strategic consulting to support code compliance, performance-based solutions, and client objectives.

Responsibilities
Your Key Responsibilities
- Design and oversee fire alarm, fire suppression, and related life safety systems for new construction, renovations, and critical facility projects
- Develop, review, and interpret life safety plans while ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements
- Provide expertise in building codes, fire codes, and life safety standards and offer guidance on code compliance strategies
- Collaborate with architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering teams to integrate fire protection solutions into overall project designs
- Interface with Authorities Having Jurisdiction, insurance representatives, building owners, and other stakeholders to facilitate approvals and resolve technical issues
- Develop fire protection site features including fire department access, water supply evaluations, and site hazard mitigation strategies
- Communicate effectively with clients and prepare technical reports, findings, and recommendations
- Perform engineering analyses including smoke control and smoke management modeling, egress evaluations, and fire hazard assessments
- Develop and justify alternative means and methods including performance-based design solutions
- Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Professional Engineer (PE) License, preferably in Fire Protection Engineering.
- Demonstrated experience with fire suppression, fire alarm, and life safety system design and review.
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and fire protection modeling or computational tools.
- Strong understanding of adopted building codes, fire codes, and government standards, including DoD, VA, and GSA requirements.
- Working knowledge of ICC and NFPA codes and standards and their application across various building types.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with clients and technical teams.
- Willingness to travel up to 15% as project needs require.
Job Requirements
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Professional Engineer (PE) License, preferably in Fire Protection Engineering.
- Demonstrated experience with fire suppression, fire alarm, and life safety system design and review.
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and fire protection modeling or computational tools.
- Strong understanding of adopted building codes, fire codes, and government standards, including DoD, VA, and GSA requirements.
- Working knowledge of ICC and NFPA codes and standards and their application across various building types.

Education and Experience
- 10+ years of relevant fire protection engineering experience in design, consulting, or related technical roles.
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Experience in Healthcare, Mission Critical, and/or Semiconductor facilities.
- Advanced expertise in computational modeling tools such as smoke control software, egress modeling, or fire dynamics simulation.
