Title: MEP Fire Protection Designer
Location: Omaha, Miami, or New York.

Responsibilities
Key responsibilities:
- Use AutoCAD and other software to create fire protection construction document packages that include drawings, construction specifications, and reports.
- Design fire protection systems, including all associated devices, equipment, and specifications.
- Prepare superior-quality fire alarm device layouts and riser diagrams.
- Perform all required calculations to support design decisions.
- Coordinate with local utility companies to provide the required utility services to the project.
- Coordinate with equipment vendors and manufacturers’ representatives for the election and specification of appropriate equipment.
- Provide construction administration (CA) services, including answering requests for information (RFIs).
- Coordinate with the client, the MEP/FP/IT design team, and other consultants to ensure the design is consistent with the client’s vision, to identify and resolve areas of conflict, to ensure a fully coordinated interdisciplinary design, and to ensure the design schedule is maintained.
- Participate in meetings and conference calls when necessary.
- Become familiar with the codes that apply to the project.
Job Requirements
What we are looking for:
- In possession of an Associate’s degree or higher in Fire Protection Technology, Engineering Technology, Computer Aided Drafting, or Architectural Engineering with an emphasis in Mechanical, Electrical or Fire Protection.
- Previous fire protection design experience involving fire sprinklers, fire pumps, and standpipe systems with an MEP/FP engineering consultant or design/build contractor.
- Knowledge of NFPA 72 codes and industry fire and fire life safety standards.
- NICET Level 2 or Higher and Auto-Sprink experience a plus.
- Previous experience with AutoSprink Fire Sprinkler Design software or other software.
- Exceptional communication and organization skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and multitask.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently upon receiving necessary direction and information.
- Thrive in fast-paced environments with a desire to work efficiently.
