Responsibilities
Role and Responsibilities
The primary objective of the Product Safety Team is to manage Samsung Electronics America (SEA) Customer Care Product Liability management activities including risk management, maximizing business competitiveness and profit by establishing goals and measuring & managing performance, analyzing external and internal business, develop action plans to strengthen competitiveness based on assessment of internal competencies and processes, communicating strategic vision globally, executing high priority tasks to support top management.
The goal of the Product Safety Claims Professional is to support Product Liability claims by defending the Samsung product and brand, activities to prevent product liability, attending on-site inspection & lab exams, identifying critical issues, developing a response strategy, coordinating with the insurance company and 3rd party law firm, and handling safety-related concerns.
- Directly sense risks preemptively by researching and analyzing industry, technology, consumer trends, and economic and political environment changes, and directly analyze how these factors will impact our company.
- Direct to examine risk factors based on internal and external environmental changes and supervise the identification of areas and issues that need to be addressed strategically
- Lead to set up a mid- to long-term change direction like upgrading internal business capability and innovating processes, and supervise the establishment of measures to strengthen competitiveness at each stage
- Works on issues that impact the success of business or addresses future concepts, products, or technologies
- Regularly interacts with external/internal stakeholders /or major customers. Interactions may frequently involve special skills such as negotiating with customers or management, or attempting to influence juniors regarding significant matters to the organization.
- Product Liability Risk management, sensing, and reporting potential risks to the leadership
- Early risk sensing for product liability issues, work cross-functionally with headquarters teams in Korea and the laboratory, follow up with a closed-loop process from detecting issues to corrective actions
- Claim management, including Insurance/Tender/Subrogation claims, managing LTPs and status, making decisions & escalating issues
Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of 6+ years of related experience and a Bachelor’s degree
- Technical education, product engineering, or troubleshooting experience
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong understanding of home appliances and display products
- Ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve application-based issues
- Excellent collaborator with the ability to communicate effectively across divisions and language barriers
- Experience working with product engineers and offshore resources in different time zones is a plus
- Experience working with and influencing cross-functional teams
- Ability to travel within the U.S. and overseas for business purposes
- Experience working in a complex, established organization, including corporate and departmental levels
- CFEI (Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator) or CFII (Certified Fire and Explosion Instructor) preferred
- Claim adjuster license is preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
- Product Technical/engineering education or experience
- Team-oriented, but also able to work independently and manage multiple tasks
- Self-directed and results-oriented with excellent communication skills
- Bilingual English and Korean in verbal, reading & written preferred
