
Fire Protection Specialist (2nd Shift)

Position Summary
This position is responsible for conducting fire safety inspections, maintaining all fire systems such as fire extinguishers, sprinklers, fire alarms, and other related equipment. As well as developing and implementing fire safety plans. The fire protection specialist will also be responsible for educating employees and visitors on fire safety procedures.
Responsibilities

• Inspect fire extinguishers, sprinkler systems, and other fire protection equipment to ensure they are in working order
• Test fire alarm systems to ensure they are functioning properly
• Investigate fires to determine the cause and make recommendations to prevent future fires
• Prepare reports on findings and present them to management
• Train employees on proper fire safety procedures
• Develop and implement evacuation plans
• Coordinate with local fire departments to ensure compliance with fire codes
• Inspect buildings to identify potential fire hazards
• Work with architects and engineers to design fire-safe buildings
• Monitor changes in building code requirements and revise plans accordingly
• Keep abreast of new technology and products related to fire safety
• All other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
Skills and Qualifications
• Education: High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree in fire science, engineering, or related field; OR Associates degree in fire science; OR NFPA certifications preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 4 years of specific fire prevention / protection experience required.
• Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of NFPA standards
• Skills: Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings Excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and possible AutoCAD
• Physical requirements: Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Have the ability to walk long distances and travel the facility on foot. Be able to go up and down stairs, climb ladders, and on occasion use a scissor lift or boom lift to assist with the job.
