Experience:
- fire sprinkler installation or related plumbing work: 7 years (Preferred)
- hydraulic calculations and water flow tests: 5 years (Preferred)
- interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings: 5 years (Preferred)
License/Certification:
- NICET (Preferred)

Responsibilities
ROLE OVERVIEW
The Fire Sprinkler Install Technician IV is responsible for installing, testing, and inspecting fire sprinkler systems in commercial, residential, and industrial buildings. The technician will work closely with contractors, construction teams, and inspectors to ensure systems are installed correctly and meet local, state, and national safety standards.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Install fire sprinkler systems, including cutting, threading, and fitting pipes, and connecting them to the water supply.
- Mount hangers for the pipes and install sprinkler heads as per blueprints and design plans.
- Conduct water flow tests and system functionality checks.
- Perform system tests to ensure proper functionality and compliance with local fire codes and NFPA standards.
- Assist with commissioning the system, ensuring all components are working and properly documented.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable fire safety codes, building codes, and NFPA guidelines.
- Complete job documentation, including reports on testing results, system installations, and maintenance.
- Diagnose and repair issues with fire sprinkler systems.
- Inspect and replace defective parts or systems and recommend corrective actions to maintain system performance.
- Work closely with project managers, construction teams, and inspectors to complete installations on schedule.
- Maintain good communication with clients and project teams regarding the status of installations and repairs.
Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 7 years of experience in fire sprinkler installation or related plumbing work.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Proficiency in the use of hand and power tools.
- Understanding of hydraulic calculations and water flow tests.
- NICET certification (or willingness to obtain), knowledge of NFPA standards.
IDEAL QUALITIES
- Knowledge of various fire sprinkler systems, including wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge systems.
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Ability to lift and carry heavy materials (up to 50 lbs).
- Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
- Typically works on active construction sites.
- May involve exposure to outdoor weather conditions and working in high places (scaffolding, ladders, etc.).
