The Alarm & Suppression Projects Foreman will be responsible for installing alarm systems, ensuring team members are following all safety guidelines, educating other apprentices on trade skills, and maintaining positive relationships.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Installation of low voltage systems (Fire Alarm, Clean Agent, Access Control, CCTV, Security) and alternative suppression systems (Clean Agent, CO2, Water Mist).
  • Ensure crews adhere to safety rules/regulations and enforce accountability on all members of the crew for excellent safety practices and culture.
  • Teach trade skills to advancing Apprentices. Effectively communicate and maintain positive and cooperative working relationships with superintendents, project managers, coworkers, and customer representatives
  • Proactively plan work to minimize schedule impacts and cost overruns.
  • Perform other job duties and responsibilities as required.

Job Requirements

Education/Qualification:  

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience with commercial and/or industrial facility low voltage systems and/or alternative suppression system installation.
  • Ability to read prints and plans
  • Skilled operation of A&S trade equipment including, but not limited to, low voltage meters and hand tools, conduit bending tools, and powered industrial lifting devices
  • Knowledge and ability to make appropriate field adjustments with minimal supervision
  • Experience working against deadlines and a good track record of completing projects on time
  • Working knowledge of applicable NFPA Codes.
  • Comfort utilizing computer systems and capable of learning and utilizing S&S operating systems
  • Ability to test and qualify for applicable license(s)

  • Must possess and retain a valid driver’s license and be able to drive short and long distances for work. Has a good driving record
  • Ability to work overtime, be on call, travel, and stay overnight out of town regularly
  • Ability to wear PPE such as ear plugs, safety glasses, gloves, steel toe shoes, and/or fall protection for long periods of time
  • Ability to stand and walk on uneven surfaces in construction and/or heavy industrial sites daily and for long periods of time
  • Ability to climb stairs/ladders and work at heights frequently, utilizing fall protection as required for the situation
  • Ability to lift and/or carry 10-20lbs daily, 40-60lbs frequently, and maneuver up to 150lbs with assistance occasionally.
  • Ability to bend, stoop and/or squat frequently and for long periods of time.
  • Ability to repetitively grasp, push, pull, and manipulate fine objects with hands and reach above shoulder level frequently.
  • Ability to reach and perform work above shoulder level frequently and for long periods of time.
  • Ability to pass eye exams to maintain valid driver’s license and pass powered industrial truck certification exams.
  • Ability to work inside and outside in hot, cold, wet, or dry environments for long periods of time, and to withstand mild to moderate exposure to marked changes in temperature or humidity, and dust, fumes, and gases.
  • Ability to pass post-offer and random drug screens.
