Responsibilities
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Oversee the design of commercial fire alarm construction projects.
- Collaborate closely with Field Operations and customers to ensure project accuracy.
- Develop detailed fire alarm plans in CAD format.
- Manage multiple projects from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with project timelines and construction phases.
- Review project scope, product specifications, and fire life safety code compliance, ensuring consistency with AHJ requirements and engineer/architect input.
- Prepare system layouts, including floor plans, Bill of Materials (BOM), sequences of operations, riser diagrams, panel layouts, and calculations.
- Update plans based on field changes to produce precise as-built drawings.
- Maintain clear communication with internal teams and external customers regarding design updates, timelines, and approvals.
- Utilize in-house printing resources to present designs professionally.
- Assist with additional assignments as delegated by the Operations team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
- High school diploma.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in fire alarm systems.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, including working with floor plans (2D), blocks, external references, and page setups.
- Experience with MS Office Suite (Word & Excel) and Adobe.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Problem-solving skills with a customer-focused approach.
- Familiarity with NFPA 72 Fire Life Safety Code.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, mechanical, and electrical plans.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two-year technical degree in a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in fire alarm system design.
- Experience with AutoCAD and BlueBeam.
- Understanding of fire alarm systems and their integration with other trades.
- NICET or other relevant certifications in the special systems industry.
- Professional demeanor with a positive attitude.
