Poole Fire Protection is looking for a creative, motivated, and team-oriented fire protection engineer interested in
being a part of a fast-paced, high-energy workgroup. Poole Fire Protection continues to enjoy incredible growth

its talented team of fire protection professionals. If multi-discipline design including fire suppression, fire
detection/alarm and life safety systems, and conducting field construction inspections and acceptance testing in a

Additional duties include project and client meetings and on-site work, overall management and supervision of
projects, marketing to potential clients, and quality control to ensure designs are in accordance with governing
industry codes and standards.

Responsibilities

Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to:

  • Read and interpret construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and contracts. Interpret
    and apply NFPA Standards to the project
  • Compile a complete design analysis including fire hazard classifications, fuel load calculations,
    classification of occupancy, partition/separations requirements, means of egress provisions, hydraulic
    data, fire detection/alarm, mass notification, and smoke management via passive or active systems
  • Communicate in both a technical and non-technical manner to adequately advise architects, contractors,
    and project owners on fire prevention, code review, code requirements, and present the best solution for
    the owner that balances any risks associated with design decisions
  • Perform field investigations of completed design to verify accuracy of design and perform/witness
    acceptance testing/commissioning
  • Manage a project’s scope, schedule, and budget and matrix-manage team members

Job Requirements

Additional Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in the fire protection industry (minimum five years preferred)
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Fire Protection Engineering (preferred)
  • Demonstrate empathetic listening sills, as well as confident, articulate, persuasive and professional
    speaking abilities
  • Desirous of being a part of a supportive, mentoring cohort that challenges one-another to continued
    growth both technically and interpersonally
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, organize, delegate, think strategically, and manage upward
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams

The position includes the potential for both domestic and international travel (15% to 40%). Positions are
available in both Poole Fire Protection’s Olathe, Kansas (Kansas City) office as well as in our Oklahoma City,
Oklahoma office. Candidates must successfully complete an employment background investigation and drug
screening. Compensation based on ability and experience and will consist of a competitive salary along with a
