PCC's clients include New York State and City agencies such as the DOT, DEP, DDC, DPR, EDC, and SCA, among others. Perfetto Contracting is seeking an experienced Safety Engineer to join our rapidly growing team of construction professionals!

Responsibilities

Perfetto is seeking an experienced Safety Engineer that has Heavy civil experience.

Assistant Safety Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adequate procedures are implemented to evaluate the adequacy of health and safety compliance and performance across the company safety program.
  • Guide and direct the development and implementation of health and safety policies, strategies, programs, and standards.
  • Track & Maintain company recordkeeping
  • Conduct Safety Training (as needed)
  • Conduct Site Safety Inspections at job sites
  • Conduct New Hire Orientations and Perform 30- and 90-day Follow-up Reviews/Interviews
  • Maintain ALL labor craft Training Records and Documentation
  • Oversee Site Safety Surveys and Corrections with agency staff
  • Track and Report worker's participation in daily safety briefings, JHA’s, and safety meetings
  • Coordinate Preparation of Job Hazard Analysis and Provide Input for Safety Requirements at Pre-activity Meetings
  • Coordinate drug and Fit Testing
  • Investigate and Report All Accidents and Near Misses (as needed)
  • Inspect, train, and ensure safety management software is fully implemented at jobs.
  • Monitor Worker's Comp Claims & Return-to-Work Program
  • Reject Tolerance for Unsafe Employees or Work Conditions
  • Attend Daily Game Plan Meetings, Operations calls and huddles
  • Keeping fully informed of all existing and proposed changes in applicable regulations and legislation.
  • Keep staff fully informed of the health and safety program and applicable legislative and assurance requirements.

Job Requirements

  • OSHA 30 Hours Construction
  • Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification
  • DOB Construction Superintendent (desirable)
  • Work Hours: 7 am-4 pm
  • Heavy Civil General Contracting (DOT, DDC, MTA, DEP) experience (desirable)
  • Strong MS Office skills
  • Able to travel to NYC
