PC is seeking a Senior Safety Specialist in Charlotte, North Carolina. This position is responsible for implementing and living PC’s “Safety Starts with Me Culture”. This position is a key member of our safety team, working with Superintendents and Project Managers to ensure that PC maintains and improves our EMR year after year through a combination of compliance, enforcement, and collaboration.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Management with the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the Project Specific Safety Plan.
  • Assist the project team with daily pre-planning activities, through risk assessments and job hazard analysis, identifying hazards and implementing controls.
  • Provide leadership and assume ownership of our overall safety culture; foster a proactive reporting environment and anticipate problems and provide effective solutions.
  • Conduct regular project safety inspections, report deficiencies, analyze inspection and incident data to identify opportunities to develop preventive and corrective practices.
  • Participate in regulatory agency inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with all local, state, & federal regulations.
  • Conduct, develop, and oversee all project wide related safety training.
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions and conclusions; and monitor results to make improvements or take corrective action.

Job Requirements

The position requires a B.S. in Occupational Safety or related discipline, along with at least three years of safety and health experience in heavy civil/water construction, a strong ability to communicate in English (Spanish-speaking is a plus), excellent prioritization and organizational skills, and computer proficiency. CHST, ASP, preferred.
