This position will work a Monday - Friday, days shift. This role will be located at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital / Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Qualified candidates will have a flexible schedule, as they must be able to cover emergency shifts if needed.

Responsibilities

The Supervisor oversees the Electrical Shop and Fire Alarm, Detection and Suppression systems for all the CU campuses. Ensures the integrity of the Electrical Distribution system throughout the campuses Ensures that the Emergency Power systems function properly. Responsible for optimal functioning of all points of Fire Alarm, Detection and Suppression systems to ensure safety throughout the campus and compliance with regulatory agencies: Ensures that all Fire Alarm, Detection and Suppression systems are functional and tested according to current Joint Commission standards. Troubleshoots fire systems to identify issues and minimize safety concerns Manages the Fire damper inspection and maintenance program for the entire campus. Responsible for maintaining and presenting to regulatory bodies all documents associated with the Fire Alarm , Detection and Suppression systems. Responsible for managing all service contracts related to the Fire Alarm, Detection and Suppression systems. Makes recommendations for improvements to system and maintenance processes. Reviews all completed job orders. Ensures all work is captured on the CMMS system in a timely manner. Attends and participates in weekly scheduling meetings with the Planner/Schedulers.

Job Requirements

Preferred Criteria

  • Electrical experience in a large facility
  • Fire Alarm Installer license

Required Crtieria

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Completion of appropriate Vocational/Technical School training, or equivalent experience
  • 7-10 years related Electrical and Fire Alarm, Detection and Suppression systems.
  • Proficiency in Fire Detection and Fire Alarm systems and associated equipment.
  • Proficiency in Fire Suppression system, Sprinklers and Fire pumps.
  • Proficiencies in HVAC fire damper inspection and maintenance procedures.
  • Proficiency with high and low voltage Electrical Distribution systems, Switch gear and Transformers.
  • Proficiency with emergency power generator systems.
  • Proficiency in Fire Detection and Fire Alarm systems and associated equipment.
  • Working knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
