Responsibilities
MES is seeking an HVAC Controls Technician. An HVAC Controls Technician installs, programs, diagnoses, and repairs complex Building Automation Systems, and electrical components to optimize HVAC energy management and comfort. They perform advanced diagnostics, calibrate sensors, and ensure proper communication between HVAC equipment and control systems.Key Competencies
- Troubleshooting: Identifying and repairing complex control system malfunctions.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of DDC, HVAC, and electrical systems.
- Communication: Interacting with customers and colleagues
Job Requirements
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma/GED is generally required; often requires a degree in HVAC technology, electronics, or related field.
- Experience: Usually requires 2–5 years of experience in HVAC service, specifically with DDC or building controls.
- Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in reading electrical schematics, mechanical blueprints, and network wiring diagrams.
- Software Skills: Experience with BAS platforms (e.g., JCI, Siemens, Honeywell) and Microsoft Office.
- Certifications: Often requires EPA Universal certification, state-specific HVAC licenses, or manufacturer-specific certifications
Typical Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with HVAC and/or electrical systems.
- Ability to read blueprints and wiring diagrams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
