Responsibilities
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee all insurance claims for auto, property, and liability. Serves as liaison between carriers, defending attorneys, and the Agency, cooperating in the preparation of material and evidence as needed for hearings, lawsuits, and/or insurance investigations. to include creating incident files, submitting to and coordinating with the Agency insurance providers, connecting with the fleet manager for repairs, connecting with supervisors for post-accident follow-up, and assigning post-accident training, with guidance on patterns, and/or action to be given for employee follow-up.
- Develop, deliver, and distribute safety training content, including written, presented, and posted.
- Lead the development, delivery, and distribution of driver training programs. This includes NEO, post-accident, and employee-requested driver training, along with written, presented, and posted material.
- Train and serve as ‘Train the Trainer’ for the agency’s driver training program. Audit program annually, mentor instructors, and help to develop ongoing driver instructor skills.
- Coordinate review with the Risk and Safety Supervisor for concerns that elevate outside of general problem areas.
- Process, track, and input daily statistics of incidents involving vehicle accidents. Interacts/coordinates with operations supervisors, Case Coordinator, insurance agents, fleet, and other parties involved in the process following vehicle accidents, following the outlined process until closure of the case. Provides statistics and reports monthly and as needed.
- Oversee the administration of the employee fit testing program to include annual compliance requirements and record retention.
- Complete Hazard Assessments for each department annually and upon request.
- Complete Job Safety Analysis upon request.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly incident summary reports and dashboards.
- Support all aspects of the Safety/Human Resources team activities or execute other projects or process improvements as assigned.
- Assist with the preparation of written safety and health programs, manuals, and policies.
- Coordinate with the Risk and Safety Supervisor to develop and manage the Risk & Safety department budget to include forecasting and ensuring expenses are within budget and agency expectations.
- Participate as lead of the safety committee – taking meeting notes (minutes) and preparing the agenda, or delegating otherwise. Monitors progress of open agenda items or action items in the safety committee meeting minutes (corrective actions status) and follows through on solutions as recommended by the committee.
- Coordinate and establish guidelines on all activities associated with subpoenas and other legal or law enforcement requests.
- Monitor and maintain the Agency driving software program (GPS Mobile Solutions) as assigned.
- Maintain thorough knowledge and familiarity with all company policies as well as local, state, and federal laws related to Risk & Safety. Maintain and ensure compliance with all said policies and procedures. Update policies as assigned.
- Participate in Agency and department improvement initiatives as a lead, team member, planning process participant, and/or idea generator.
- Maintains compliance with all agency job-related training and certifications.
- Serve as a change advocate, representing and communicating with positivity to employees.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- Associate degree or equivalent experience and education
- Two (2) years of experience preferred
- Claims and insurance adjustment experience preferred
- Must be well organized and must have the ability to be efficient in a rapidly changing environment
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred
- Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions.
- Must work weekends when required
