At IPS, we are global leaders in developing innovative solutions for the consulting, architecture, engineering, project controls, procurement, construction management, and CQV of technically complex facilities, primarily in the life sciences industry. We are looking for a dedicated Plumbing and Fire Protection Designer II to join our talented team at our headquarters in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania.
In this role, you will work with a team of Designers, Architects, and Engineers to develop design concepts that are incorporated into a final product to the client’s specifications.
Responsibilities

- Develop design concepts; prepare documents during the design development phase.
- Correct and update design documents.
- Develop solutions to design problems.
- Use computer-aided design technologies to develop sketches, drawings, and construction documents.
- Review drawings and documents to ensure compliance with company design and production standards.
- Work with equipment suppliers/vendors to obtain the necessary information needed for design completion.
- Interact with clients on a limited basis to secure scope and design intent.
- Routinely archive and retrieve data from electronic databases for the support of work.
- Research equipment selection from catalogs under the direction of the Project Designer/Engineer.
- Ensure acceptable levels of quality and checks for coordination of work to ensure documents reflect design intent and necessary coordination.
- Coordinate design work with related engineering disciplines.
- Research non-routine code issues and obtain interpretations from code officials.
- Support field installation and start-up activities.
- Provide limited contribution to performance reviews for assigned staff.
Job Requirements
Qualifications & Requirements
- 5+ years of previous design experience.
- Technical or Associate Degree in plumbing or HVAC design from an accredited technical institution or college.
- Proficient in the use of computers for design and understanding CAD operations.
- General knowledge of plumbing and fire protection systems, including Sanitary and Vent Systems, Storm Systems, Process Waste Systems, Lab and Vent Systems, Domestic Water Systems, Process and Lab Gas Systems, Sprinkler Design, and Wet/Dry/Pre-Action Systems.
- Understanding and knowledge of applicable codes.
- Customer Service experience exhibiting strong oral and written communication skills.

- A safety-minded individual who must comply with the IPS Mission Zero Safety policy.
This position is a safety-sensitive position. The employee is designated for field work and attends activities at client sites where they work in construction, process, packaging, manufacturing, research, or other "non-administrative" areas.
All interviews are conducted either in person or virtually, with video required.
