Responsibilities

Role and Responsibilities:The Safety Engineer will be responsible for the implementation of safety engineering policies and programs that embrace a range of matters directly or indirectly concerned with safety and protection. Assignments also include responsibility for the technical adequacy of plans, designs, and specifications for the improvement of safety programs within a facility. The safety engineer will be reporting to the Project’s Site Safety Manager. The project will start in mid-2024 and run until mid-2028.

  • Perform inspections and safety audits.
  • Maintain daily site safety log and all other safety-related activities including feedback from the competent persons, safety deficiencies, and corrective actions taken at each worksite
  • Help staff in the rebuilding of a bridge (NYSDOT project)
  • Complete hazard and job safety analysis to ensure proper use of machinery and equipment, personal protective equipment, and procedures.
  • Conduct accident investigations to ascertain causes and to develop preventive safety measures.  

Job Requirements

Skills & Experience Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or other related field (or equivalent years’ experience).
  • Minimum four (4) years safety engineer experience
  • Any heavy civil, NYSDOT, bridge, or water experience is preferred.
  • Previous experience in the Railroad Bridge rebuilding project would be beneficial.
  • Experience with Civil Infrastructure projects.

Education and Certification Requirements:

  • OSHA 30 Hour
  • CPR First Aid
