Security Guard company, located in New York City, is looking to hire a hands-on, engaged, versatile Safety Manager.

The leader will be responsible for standards and functions to reduce and prevent employee injuries, incidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards, as well as reducing the environmental aspects and impacts associated with the company’s operations.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate safety training for supervisors and managers.
  • Facilitate new employee safety orientation.
  • Maintain governmental regulatory compliance.
  • Complete routine job analysis /observations
  • Investigate and conduct root cause analysis of on-the-job injuries.
  • Implements, directs, and coordinates safety incentive programs.
  • Maintain defensive driving program.
  • Primary local contact with regulatory agencies on all local EHS matters and coordinates communications with corporate risk management.
  • Provides leadership, assistance, and support to local management in identifying and resolving employee health and safety issues.
  • Provide various forms of site training (ongoing Supervisor and employee training, special emphasis training, specialized equipment-specific training, post-incident retraining)
  • Conduct regularly scheduled/executed auditing/site inspections.
  • Conduct post-incident site investigations following reported incidents, near misses, etc. depending upon criteria.
  • Support the opening of new accounts.
  • Conduct Job Safety Analysis related to all employee activities.
  • Develop, prepare, and ensure all safety/training materials are kept up to date and designed in compliance with all local, state, and federal industry requirements.
  • Partners with the corporate training team and serves as the local subject matter expert on the company's learning management system.
  • Develops and prepares training and development related safety bulletins and customized material (monthly) for our employees, managers, and clients, as appropriate.
  • Knowledge of or associations with ASIS and other Safety / Security industry related organizations.
  • Experience in Security Guarding Services on-site client management a plus.
  • Strong presentation & facilitation skills.
  • Ability to consult and work collaboratively, but also to self-manage.
  • Ability to multitask, and quickly adapt to changes in work assignments.

Job Requirements

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

    • Certifications or coursework towards ASP, CSP, CPEA, SMS, OHST, CSM, or similar preferred.
    • Must be a self-starter who can effectively evaluate situations and take independent action to expedite the resolution of open issues
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • (2-5) years’ experience in safety management or related work
