GSSC is privately owned and locally operated, seeking an experienced Fire and Security Service Technician based out of Bloomington to join our growing team! Founded in 1946, GSSC remains one of the largest privately held security companies in the Midwest.The Security Installation Technician is responsible for installing low voltage cable, pathway systems, firestop systems, and various electronic components with and without supervision.

Responsibilities
Security Installation Technician Job Responsibilities

- Pulls and routes low voltage cable in a new construction and existing structure commercial environment.
- Terminates data jacks
- Installs support structures (ladders, racks, j-hooks)
- Builds out cable closets (MDF/IDFs).
- Firestops various types of cable penetrations
- Tests, troubleshoots, and documents cable using testing equipment
- Ensures the entire EPG process flow is acted upon, including documentation, client communication, and successfully completing work tickets.
- Manages job scheduling and job progress in an efficient and cost-effective manner, with a strong focus on quality.
- Maintains full compliance with the Company’s and Client’s safety program(s)
- Generates new techniques, ideas and solutions that can improve delivery quality, efficiency, and reduce costs.
- Identifies lessons learned and shares with the organization.
Job Requirements
Security Installation Technician Minimum Qualifications
- Hold a valid state driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Associate degree required or 2+ years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- General knowledge of low voltage and/or network cabling
- Ability to operate power tools
- Knowledge in Microsoft office including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to learn to read Blueprints and Diagrams
- Ability to be on the On-Call rotation throughout the year including a minimum of one holiday per year, one week at a time (number of weeks within a year are dependent on the number of individuals in the rotation) (being on the On-Call schedule could happen within 3 months of employment)
- Pass a background check
Preferred Qualifications
- Power Limited Technician (PLT) registration and willingness to achieve PLT within 36 months or minimal months necessary to qualify as per the state of employment from date of hire.
- BICSI certification
- NICET certification
Physical, Mental And Environmental Requirements
- Employee is required to stand, walk, climb, sit and use hands and fingers.
- Reaching, grasping, and carrying activities also required.
- Moderate noise level in the work environment.
- Although most work is performed inside, occasional outside activities are subject to seasonal temperature fluctuations.
- Ability to complete ladder work, operate scissor and boom lifts, move boxes, and lift, up to 50lbs.
