Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Fire Alarm & Security Installation Technician to join our team in Tampa, Florida. This role involves the installation of fire alarm and security systems while ensuring compliance with industry codes and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in low-voltage systems, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Compensation
$28.00 - $34.00/hour depending on experience
This pay range reflects the base compensation Fortis Fire & Safety reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors such as experience and skills. Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Interpret blueprints and update as-built documentation as needed.
- Verify that all necessary equipment and materials are available and properly staged for installation.
- Identify and address field modifications or potential scope gaps to maintain project integrity.
- Ensure all installations comply with current National Electrical Code (NEC) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)
- Conduct on-site inspections to review installation quality and ensure adherence to project specifications.
- Stay up to date with industry advancements by attending seminars and training sessions on emerging technologies and best practices.
- Maintain clear and professional communication with internal teams, contractors, and clients to facilitate smooth project execution.
Job Requirements
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 2-4 years of experience in the low-voltage industry including installation.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Strong knowledge of fire alarm and security system codes and standards.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a field-based environment.
- Valid Florida Fire Alarm License (FASA/BASA certification) or ability to obtain it.
- Knowledge of local and state regulations governing fire alarm and security systems.
- Understanding of NEC and NFPA current requirements
- Proficient in technology tools and systems
Preferred Qualifications
- BS or Technical School Certification
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and climb stairs, or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
