Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Fire Sprinkler Working Foreman to lead fire protection system installations across a variety of construction projects, including tenant improvements, new builds, underground piping, and retrofits. This is a full-time, field-based role in California requiring hands-on expertise and leadership in fire sprinkler system installation. Project areas include: LA county, Orange County, Riverside County, San Bernardino County

As a Foreman, you will oversee a small crew, ensure compliance with NFPA 13 standards, and maintain high-quality workmanship that directly impacts life safety. You will interpret blueprints and fire codes, coordinate with project managers and design teams, and adapt plans to meet job site conditions. You’ll also mentor apprentices and enforce safety protocols in accordance with OSHA and company policies.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install fire sprinkler systems in accordance with NFPA 13 standards and project specifications.
  • Follow all safety regulations, including proper use of PPE and adherence to OSHA guidelines.
  • Apply industry-standard practices and methods for fire protection system installation.
  • Work independently under limited supervision, ensuring timely and compliant execution.
  • Train and coach fire sprinkler apprentices, supporting skill development and safety awareness.
  • Attend safety, training, and educational meetings to stay current on regulations and resolve job site issues.
  • Perform work that consistently passes fire inspections and meets local requirements.
  • Lead a team of 1–3, ensuring productivity and quality control.
  • Travel to job sites using a company-provided vehicle, maintaining punctuality and professionalism.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate written and electronic documentation (timesheets, work tickets, inspection reports, etc.).
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, team members, and project managers.
  • Solve practical problems on-site and develop action plans to address challenges.
  • Inform and document the need for change orders.

Job Requirements

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 4–5 years of fire sprinkler installation experience preferred, with a focus on commercial and tenant improvement projects.
  • Proven experience in commercial construction or tenant improvement fire protection systems.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 13 and applicable California fire codes.
  • Must be able to drive a company vehicle and travel to various job sites as part of essential duties; valid driver’s license required.
  • Valid California Fire Sprinkler Fitter Certification highly preferred.
  • Basic understanding of measurements, layout, and pipe fitting techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and fire codes accurately.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed based on project demands.

Physical Requirements

  • Staying on your feet all day.
  • Lifting/carrying 50+ pounds
  • Comfortable with climbing and/or heights.
  • Comfortable working in elevated areas for extended periods.
  • Stamina for consistent tasks such as lifting, reaching side to side and overhead, climbing, stooping, squatting, kneeling, crawling, twisting, and bending.
  • Repetitive hand and finger movements (simple and powerful) such as grasping, pushing, pulling, and reaching.
  • Operate foot controls or repetitive foot movement.
  • Cut, thread, assemble, and bond pipe according to equipment specifications.
  • Secure pipes to structures with clamps and brackets using hand tools.
  • Ability to work under any weather condition in outdoor and indoor environments.
