
Nuclear Safety Engineer
Job Description
Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Nuclear Safety Engineer opportunity in Richland, WA to support the Hanford Site.
Responsibilities
Major Duties/Responsibilities:
Support the completion of nuclear safety documentation, including generating nuclear safety documents, reviewing documents provided by others, interfacing with Company staff, interfacing with subcontract staff in preparing nuclear safety deliverables, and providing senior nuclear safety support to Company plant operations.
1. Support Company nuclear safety activities associated with developing, implementing, interpreting, and enforcing Company facility Documented Safety Analysis (DSA) and Technical Safety Requirements (TSR).
a. Documents and Requirements – Prepare, review, and verify implementation of Nuclear Safety Basis, DSA and TSR documents and requirements.
b. Resolution of Unreviewed Safety Question (USQ) Determinations (USQD) issues.
c. Provide factual accuracy review of Safety Evaluation Reports (SERs).
d. Nuclear Safety-related assessments and/or walk-throughs.
e. Nuclear safety-related DOE orders and regulations compliance support, including Company implementation of USQ guidance.
f. Support Company in performance of routine and ad-hoc reviews, assessments, and oversight walk-downs of nuclear safety program adequacy, implementation, and compliance verification/oversight activities.
2. Provide USQ screenings, USQ determinations, and/or application of USQ categorical exclusions for work control documents, procedure revisions, modification packages, or other identified documents/changes.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, physics or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Education equivalency is two years of experience for one year of education.
- Minimum of 15 years in the nuclear safety industry, of which at least eight (8) years must be directly related to the required area of expertise as a nuclear safety engineer as defined under 10 CFR 830.
- Related [or relevant] experience in performing all of the tasks outlined in duties and responsibilities listed.
