Job Description
Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Construction Safety Specialist opportunity to support the Savannah River Site.

Construction Safety Specialist-
The Construction Safety Specialist is a mid-level position responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring safety programs and initiatives. This role involves conducting safety audits, leading investigations, and providing safety guidance to ensure compliance and promote a strong safety culture. The purpose of this position is to apply advanced technology constructs to propose new methods to create and sustain a productive work culture and safe work environment in order to avoid and minimize Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) related problems.
Responsibilities
Duties/Skills:
- Conduct safety audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Develop and maintain safety policies, procedures, and training programs for employees.
- Lead incident investigations to determine root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
- Provide expert safety guidance and support to management and employees.
- Monitor safety performance, track metrics, and report on key safety indicators.
- Act as a point of contact for regulatory inspections and inquiries.
- Work on projects of advanced scope for HSE activities on medium to large-scale total installed cost (TIC) projects; duties may include preparation of certification/classification programs, the preparation of the supporting HSE documents and implementation of project specific HSE initiatives.
- Apply regulatory requirements to provide advanced scope recommendations to project management; assist in monitoring and controlling HSE standards, applicable laws and regulations; and design and review a project plan or schematic to confirm compliance with all governmental regulations and Company/client requirements.
- Perform and document work requiring evaluation, selection, and adaptation/modification of advanced and complex techniques, procedures, and criteria, for example, Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), coordination and execution of Safety Cases (SC) and support studies, Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRA), Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), Fire Protection Specifications (FPS), Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA)and perform analysis of regulations against advanced scope project needs so that design will comply with regulations.
- Maintain and apply a comprehensive knowledge of the Company’s HSE standards, programs and goals by applying HSE procedures as established by the Company on a project site or in an office through departmental training and the use of knowledge management portals and communities.
- Promote and foster Company HSE standards and goals with programs throughout the Company and/or project to confirm a safe and productive work environment.
- Laisse as necessary with Sales through preparation of HSE responses to advanced complexity pre-qualification requests and HSE sections of proposals by providing technical write-ups and work efforts of staff to execute scope of work as required.
- Prepare, maintain, interpret and communicate records, reports, or documents that may be required to meet corporate or regulatory requirements, including monitoring advanced application of HSE standards and goals through its programs.
- Assist in the development of project compliance programs through an analysis of regulations.
- Provide input for HSE permit preparation on advanced complexity projects by maintaining knowledge of current guidelines and regulations.
- Establish and maintain communications with client representatives and project staff through meetings, phone conferences and emails to provide for client satisfaction.
- Establish advanced HSE design/performance criteria and specifications for executing work and review the project regularly to confirm compliance with Company, client and governing authorities.
- Assist in the preparation of estimates and the selection of materials required for HSE aspects of advanced complexity projects and evaluate materials for service life and suitability according to Company HSE and/or client standards and regulations.
- Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines.
- Organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Plan and organize own work assignments, as well as carry out tasks from management staff.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and global standards
- Adhere to and support the Client’s Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability Policies
Job Requirements
Education/Yrs. Of Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related field is required.
- Four to Ten (4–10) years in industrial, construction, or manufacturing safety.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Nuclear construction experience and prior experience with the DOE or NNSA.
- Professional certification like Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST).
- Master's degree

- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance
