Established in 1982, our client is a 200-person engineering firm headquartered in the greater Philadelphia area with full-service offices in New York, Boston, Baltimore and Washington, DC. As a multi-disciplined engineering design firm, they provide services to corporate, transportation, hospitality, laboratories, healthcare, education, pharmaceutical and retail markets. Their services span all project phases from site selection through detail design to third party commissioning. Expertise includes mechanical, electrical, plumbing/fire protection, structural, integrated technology services, and preventative maintenance commissioning.

Job Description

Immediate need for a strong engineer with leadership capabilities to lead the NYC office Plumbing and Fire Protection department and support the function nationwide

Responsibilities

  • Serve as engineering leader and technical expert with the ability to answer questions and resolve issues brought forth by the staff
  • Create engineering plans, processes, and procedures for engineering staff
  • Propose and oversee budgets and timelines
  • Check the accuracy of the work performed by engineering staff
  • Communicate and collaborate with other managers and contractors
  • Prepare and deliver various engineering-related presentations

Job Requirements

  • 10+ years or more experience in Plumbing and Fire Protection design
  • Proven team supervisory experience
  • Excellent communication skills particularly strong writing skills
  • Strong knowledge of building codes
  • Self-motivated attitude with the ability to multitask and thrive in a time-line driven environment
  • Ability to work individually or as part of a team
  • Knowledge of sustainable certification programs
  • Strong software skills including Revit (desired not required)

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering - PE license desired, not required
