Overview:

Responsible for assiting with the development, implementation and oversight of selected EHS&S programs and policies at the Rochester, NY location to ensure compliance with all Federal, State, Local and company policies and regulations.  This position reports directly to the site EHS&S manager

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in development, coordination, and the implementation of EHS&S policies.
  • Trains employees on company policies and regulations pertaining to employee safety including Hazard Communication, Industrial Hygiene, LOTO, etc.
  • Performs proactive safety inspections, monitors hazardous waste removal vendors, and assists in consolidating hazardous wastes.
  • Actively work with EHS&S management and Plant stakeholders to ensure that Production and Factory changes result in improved controls of risks to health, safety and the environment.
  • Analyze incident trends and use risk-assessment methods to help identify continuous improvement projects that reduce injury, illness and environmental impact events.
  • Proactively identify health, safety, and environmental hazards and recommend and implement effective controls to minimize risks.
  • Assist in completing Job Hazard Assessments and inspect work activities against the site, State, Local, and Federal regulations.
  • Serves as technical advisor and coordinator on EHS&S issues.
  • Respond to incidents related to health, safety, and the environment and notify all pertinent company and customer staff. Investigates incidents and report findings to program management causes and actions to take to prevent reoccurrences.  May lead incident investigations and root cause corrective action plans and corrective action implementation.
  • Generate and submit reports related to health, safety, and environmental metrics and systems as required by management or regulation.
  • Maintain all records related to safety, health, and environmental protection and as required by programs, policy, regulation, or contract clauses.
  • Engage and participate on spill team, R&D safety teams, etc. as needed.

Job Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health or related field.
  • Experience supporting EHS program development, training all levels of personnel, and influencing/managing change to reduce risk and improve outcomes.
  • Experience with hazard analysis methods, hazard communication, powered industrial vehicle safety, OSHA compliance, incident investigation and learnings, and corrective action management.
  • Familiarity with industrial hygiene, industrial ergonomics, machine safety, environmental compliance processes.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure while managing competing demands and deadlines.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • EHS&S related certifications desired, but not required
