Arcadis is seeking a Senior Fire Protection Engineer to support our Design and Engineering team throughout the USA on a number of exciting projects. This is a client facing role with aptitude to grow business.

As a Senior Fire Protection Engineer, you will lead the fire protection discipline of multiple concurrent projects through pursuits, proposal, design, and construction phases. You will be responsible for leading design efforts and serve as the engineer of record.  You will also support proposal and business development efforts, working with project teams, other senior and junior engineers, project managers, and clients on various projects involving commercial, industrial and municipal / government projects. This role is home based , however you need to live within commutable distance to an Airport so as to attend client meetings in various locations apart from your own State.

Responsibilities

  • Have project leadership level of experience in fire alarm, smoke control, fire suppression, and other related design
  • Self-motivated and team-oriented with the ability to work both independently and within a team.  
  • Lead design teams to develop construction-ready drawing packages with inter-discipline coordination.  
  • Design for available capacity, redundancy, reliability, efficiency, and safety, as well as constructability and cost.
  • Travel to project sites for engineering site surveys, data collection for system studies, system audits and collaboration with clients’ team members.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry standards, building codes, and safety standards such as NFPA, as well as international standards.
  • Fluency in design and modeling software (AutoCAD, Revit, hydraulic calculation software).
  • Provide mentoring to junior staff.

Job Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education - BS in Mechanical Engineering (or similar discipline)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) required.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in Fire Protection Engineering

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional License (e.g., EIT/PE or GIT/PG) –
  • Certifications – NICET Level 3, 4 Lean design and construction experience.
  • LEED Accredited Professional
