
NICET Fire Sprinkler Designer
Job Description
We are seeking a Fire Sprinkler Designer with NICET Sprinkler Design certification to join our small team. This is an in-person role that involves the design of fire sprinkler systems in various settings, both independently and in a small team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong design background and be proficient in design software including AutoCAD and Revit, ensuring that all systems meet safety standards and regulations. As a Fire Sprinkler Designer, you will play a crucial role in protecting lives and property through effective fire safety solutions.

- Design and layout sprinkler systems according to industry standards and local codes using specialized CAD software packages that are based on the AutoCAD platform.
- Collaborate with engineers on system design and layout for new installations.
- Provide technical support and guidance to clients regarding fire safety practices and system operation.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes related to fire protection.
- Coordinate sprinkler system piping with other building components. Perform hydraulic calculations.
- Read and interpret construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and contracts.
- Interpret and apply applicable NFPA standards to the design and/or layout of the sprinkler systems based on the building type, construction type, hazard classification and architectural features.
- Perform field check of completed design to verify accuracy, if required.
- Work closely with the Estimation department, Design Manager, and Operations Manager to review the scope sheet and requirements of each project.
- Coordinate projects to meet delivery dates.
- Communicate with AHJs, contractors, and other trades.
- Coordinate with team members for listing of required materials.
- Coordinate with team members for permitting and inspection requirements.
- Actively participate in predesign and review meetings.
- Identify opportunities for cost-saving measures and quality improvement.
- Adhere to company safety policies and procedures to ensure all duties are performed in a safe and professional manner.
- Provide outstanding customer service.

Job Requirements
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to understand complex systems.
- Proficiency in CAD software for system design.
- Proficiency in Revit software for system design.
- Experience in mechanical engineering principles.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail in installation and maintenance tasks.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and clients.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Visualizes 3D concepts and solves basic mathematic problems, including geometry and algebra.
- Proficient in interpreting and applying applicable NFPA standards, and in reading and interpreting construction documents.
- Must obtain and retain any licenses that are required by national, state/province, and local codes.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, electrical, and mechanical drawings.
- Ability to maintain accurate and auditable records.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced service/construction team environment.
- Attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to travel as needed.
