About the company

NYCSSS supports the NYC Department of Education in its mission to provide clean and safe schools to the children of New York City. Since our creation we’ve centralized services to all New York City schools under one umbrella and have created efficiencies in the management and payroll processes, as well as computerized systems to track and deploy data for the approximately 1,300 school buildings throughout our five boroughs. We deliver these services with pride knowing that we care for those who care for our schools and thus help our children achieve their educational goals.

The "New York City School Support Service" is a general term encompassing various support programs and offices under the New York City Public Schools (NYCPS), formerly the Department of Education (NYCDOE). These services assist students, families, and staff with issues ranging from academics and enrollment to health and human resources.

How to get help

The right point of contact depends on the specific issue:

  • For school-specific issues: Start by contacting the teacher, guidance counselor, or Parent Coordinator at your child's school. Their contact information can be found using the NYCPS "Find a School" tool.
  • For unresolved school or district-level issues: If the school cannot resolve your concern, you can contact the district's Family Support Coordinator or file a complaint or appeal with NYCPS.
  • For admissions, special education, or transportation: Use the dedicated emails and phone numbers for those specific departments. A comprehensive list is available on the NYC Public Schools "Get Help" page.
  • For general information: Call the main NYC Public Schools number at 718-935-2200 during business hours or dial 311 at any time for education-related issues.
  • For device support: The NYC Support Hub has information about DOE-loaned laptops and tablets.
