Responsibilities
Role Description The Fire Alarm Design Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Area. The individual will design fire alarm and life safety systems that comply with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications, using CAD tools and engineering principles. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing system layout drawings, equipment selection, and detailed design documentation, as well as coordinating with project managers, field technicians, and external partners to ensure accurate installation and integration. The role involves reviewing existing systems for upgrades or conversions (such as transitions to EST4), performing technical calculations, and supporting submittals, permitting, and inspections. The engineer will also provide technical support during commissioning, troubleshoot design-related issues, and contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and standards.
Job Requirements
- Strong design engineering skills, including experience creating detailed fire alarm or life safety system designs.
- Background in Mechanical Engineering with knowledge of building systems and code compliance considerations.
- Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software for producing accurate drawings and layouts.
- Knowledge of Electrical Engineering principles relevant to low-voltage systems, circuit design, and device integration.
- Experience with product design or system configuration for fire alarm or related safety technologies.
- Familiarity with NFPA codes, local building and fire codes, and industry standards for fire alarm systems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills, with the ability to interpret technical specifications and plans.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams and clients.
- Relevant technical degree or certification in engineering, electronics, or a related field; NICET certification in fire alarm systems is a plus.
- Experience with EST/Edwards fire alarm systems or similar platforms is preferred.
