Shift: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Compensation: $25 – $48 per hour

The Fire Protection / Sprinkler Technician is responsible for inspecting, testing, repairing, and servicing fire protection systems, including fire alarms, sprinklers, extinguishers, and emergency lighting. Knowledge of NFPA standards and procedures is required. This role is part of the fire life and safety team within the larger Facility Maintenance organization. The ideal candidate is reliable, works well in a team, communicates effectively with management and customers, and completes tasks on schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Perform testing and inspections of fire safety systems as part of a preventive maintenance program.
  • Prepare and provide inspection and service reports, noting deficiencies and recommended corrections.
  • Assist in testing, maintaining, and performing light repairs on fire sprinkler systems.
  • Learn and operate fire protection control systems to respond to service calls as needed.
  • Complete all work orders and reports accurately and on time.
  • Interact professionally with customers and follow up as required.
  • Participate in “after-hours” emergency call rotation.
  • Support training and development for entry-level team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; vocational or industry trade school training is a plus.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with peers, supervisors, and customers.
  • NICET Level II certification in Inspection and Testing of Water-Based Systems required.
  • Backflow Test and Repair Certification required.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience with all fire sprinkler systems (wet, dry, deluge, pre-action).
  • Knowledge of NFPA 25 (2023) and NFPA 20, 72, and 291 (2022 editions).
  • Ability to lift at least 75 lbs regularly.
  • Basic mechanical skills required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and speak effectively to groups of customers or employees.
