Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities

Design And Coordination

  • Assist with developing and finalizing designs for fire protection systems tailored to specific commercial and industrial environments.
  • Learn to read and interpret construction documents, drawings, and NFPA standards to ensure code-compliant designs.
  • Assist with creating detailed technical drawings using various design software (AutoCAD, AutoSprink, AlarmCAD, HydraCad, Revit, etc.)

Material And Documentation Management

  • Assist with preparing comprehensive stock lists for all materials required for the project.
  • Gathering and organizing necessary drawings, documents, and permit applications for submission to relevant jurisdictions.

Vendor And Project Coordination

  • Assist with collaborating with suppliers, project managers, and field crews to gather information and ensure successful implementation of designs.
  • Gain experience coordinating with sub-contractors and General Contractors to integrate designs with overall project requirements.

Compliance And Quality Assurance

  • Learn how to ensure that all designs and installations meet applicable codes and standards.
  • Monitor project progress and resolve any issues related to design and installation.

Continuous Improvement

  • Stay updated on industry trends, standards, and software enhancements to continuously improve design processes.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of best practices in fire system design.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Interest in developing skills for a career in the fire protection field.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites in Virginia and surrounding states.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic training and/or exposure with AutoCAD or other specialized design software.
  • NICET certification.
  • Associates degree in a related field or additional relevant certifications.
  • Experience in the fire protection industry or related sectors is advantageous.
