The EHS Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and company policies. This role drives a proactive safety culture, minimizes environmental impact, and ensures a safe, healthy workplace for employees, contractors, and visitors. The EHS Manager partners with leadership and employees to continuously improve safety performance and environmental stewardship.

Work Environment

This position operates primarily in a manufacturing plant environment with regular exposure to industrial operations.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs in compliance with OSHA, EPA, and local/state regulations
  • Lead workplace safety initiatives, risk assessments, and hazard mitigation activities
  • Promote a culture of safety through training, communication, and employee engagement
  • Conduct safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations; lead root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Manage environmental compliance programs, including waste management, air emissions, water discharge, and chemical handling
  • Maintain required EHS documentation, permits, and reporting
  • Track and analyze safety metrics (TRIR, DART, near misses) and environmental KPIs
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and inspections
  • Support ergonomics, industrial hygiene, and occupational health initiatives
  • Collaborate with Operations and Engineering on new equipment, process changes, and facility expansions
  • Lead emergency response planning, drills, and incident preparedness
  • Manage EHS budgets and external vendors/consultants

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of EHS experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and environmental regulations
  • Experience conducting safety training and leading investigations
  • Proven ability to drive safety culture and continuous improvement
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, or CHMM
  • Experience in machinery, heavy manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, or similar industries
  • Experience with ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 systems
  • Multi-site EHS responsibility experience
