📍 Location: Remote (U.S.-based | Eastern Time preferred)
🕒 Employment Type: Full-Time
💰 Compensation: Competitive base + performance-based incentives
🏢 Industry: Fire Protection & Life Safety Code Consulting

About the Role

We’re partnering with a growing, specialist fire protection consultancy that focuses on fire and life safety code consulting for architects, developers, and building owners.

They are looking to hire a Senior / Principal Fire Protection Engineer who can operate as a true seller-doer — someone who combines strong technical delivery with the ability to build and grow client relationships.

This is a high-impact, high-visibility role, working directly with leadership in a small but established firm that already benefits from ~95% repeat business. You’ll play a key role in both project execution and future growth.

Who This Role Is Ideal For

  • A Senior FPE ready to step into a Principal-level role
  • A seller-doer who enjoys both technical work and relationship building
  • Someone looking to have real influence in a growing consultancy
  • An engineer who values autonomy, trust, and long-term growth

Responsibilities

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead fire protection engineering and code consulting projects from concept through completion
  • Oversee design and review of fire alarm, fire suppression, and special hazards systems
  • Provide expert interpretation of IBC, IFC, NFPA, and local codes
  • Work directly with architects, developers, and owners as a trusted advisor
  • Manage and deliver multiple projects while maintaining high technical standards
  • Support and grow existing client relationships
  • Contribute to business development efforts, helping expand an already strong client base
  • Collaborate closely with leadership on strategy, delivery, and growth

Job Requirements

What We’re Looking For

  • 8–20+ years of fire protection engineering experience
  • Strong background in code consulting and system design
  • Experience working directly with clients in a consulting environment
  • Proven ability or interest in business development / client growth
  • PE license strongly preferred (or ability to obtain)
  • Strong knowledge of NFPA standards, IBC/IFC, and life safety design
  • Self-starter mindset — comfortable working remotely and taking ownership
