We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Fire Protection Designer with expertise in Auto Sprinkler systems to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing fire protection systems, specifically focusing on sprinkler systems, for a range of commercial, industrial, and residential projects. You will collaborate with engineers, project managers, and clients to ensure the efficient and safe design and implementation of these systems.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Development:
- Lead the design and layout of fire protection systems, particularly automatic sprinkler systems, in accordance with local, national, and international codes and standards (NFPA, NFPA 13, etc.).
- Prepare comprehensive fire protection system designs using AutoCAD and/or Revit, incorporating hydraulic calculations, system schematics, and other relevant documentation.
- Develop and review plans for water supply, distribution, and sprinkler head placement.
- Ensure compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and fire protection design standards.
- Project Management:
- Oversee multiple projects from concept to completion, ensuring designs are completed on time and within budget.
- Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and engineers to review specifications, resolve design issues, and ensure the integration of fire protection systems with other building systems.
- Prepare and review project schedules and cost estimates.
- Collaboration and Consultation:
- Provide technical advice and support to project teams, clients, and regulatory authorities regarding fire protection systems and safety protocols.
- Collaborate with architects, electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and contractors to ensure seamless system integration into the overall building design.
- Assist clients with compliance-related questions and documentation.
- Testing and Commissioning:
- Oversee the testing, commissioning, and inspection of sprinkler systems, ensuring they meet design requirements and function as intended.
- Assist in troubleshooting issues and providing technical solutions during system installation and post-installation stages.
- Training and Mentorship:
- Mentor junior designers and other team members, providing guidance on design best practices, code compliance, and AutoCAD/Revit proficiency.
- Stay current with the latest fire protection technologies, tools, and industry trends, and share knowledge with the team.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare detailed and accurate documentation, including design calculations, material lists, specifications, and reports.
- Review and ensure quality control on all deliverables, including drawings, designs, and project documentation.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in fire protection design, with a strong focus on automatic sprinkler systems.
- Technical Skills:
- Expertise in AutoCAD and/or Revit for fire protection design.
- Knowledge of fire protection codes and standards (NFPA 13, NFPA 25, etc.).
- Proficiency in hydraulic calculations for sprinkler systems and fire protection design software (e.g., HASS, SprinkCAD, etc.).
- Experience in designing fire protection systems for large-scale commercial and industrial projects.
- Certifications: Fire Protection Engineer (FPE) certification or NICET certification in Fire Protection Systems (level III or IV) is preferred.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
