Responsibilities

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Fire Alarm Technician role based in Springfield, MO. The Fire Alarm Technician will install, program, inspect, test, and maintain fire alarm and life safety systems in residential and commercial buildings. Daily responsibilities include reading and interpreting plans and wiring diagrams, pulling and terminating low-voltage cable, mounting and connecting devices, and ensuring systems meet code and manufacturer specifications. The role involves troubleshooting system issues, performing repairs and upgrades, documenting work performed, and keeping accurate service records. The technician will interact with customers on-site, explain system operation, provide basic training on equipment use, and collaborate with team members, project managers, and other trades to complete projects safely and on schedule.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience with low-voltage systems and Low Voltage Engineering, including reading schematics and working with cabling and devices.
  • Strong Troubleshooting skills for diagnosing, repairing, and optimizing fire alarm and related electronic systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Alarm Systems and Life Safety equipment, including installation, testing, inspection, and maintenance in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Customer Service skills to communicate clearly with clients, address concerns on-site, and represent the company professionally.
  • Ability to use basic hand and power tools safely and effectively; familiarity with test equipment (meters, testers, laptops/programming tools) is preferred.
  • Knowledge of relevant fire and building codes, NFPA standards, and local regulations is highly beneficial.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade school training in electronics, low voltage, or a related field is a plus.
  • Ability to work on-site, lift and carry equipment, climb ladders, and work in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record and the ability to pass any required background checks or security clearances.
  • Industry certifications (NICET II) is required; willingness to pursue ongoing training and certification is strongly valued.
