Firefighter / EMT / Driver Operator

The EMT/Firefighter is responsible for providing pre-hospital emergency medical care and fire suppression services to protect life, property, and the environment. This role operates primarily in out-of-hospital settings and requires collaboration with medical direction, other provider agencies, and state EMS systems. EMT/Firefighters are accountable to medical direction, their peers, and the public.
Position is contingent upon contract award.
Responsibilities

- Perform pre-hospital emergency medical duties in compliance with state EMS regulations.
- Provide Basic Life Support (BLS) care under medical direction.
- Conduct daily inspections, maintenance, and cleaning of emergency vehicles.
- Perform supply inventory and equipment checks in coordination with Paramedics.
- Respond promptly to emergency and non-emergency calls.
- Operate emergency vehicles and communication equipment safely and professionally.
- Perform vehicle extrication and other rescue operations.
- Conduct fire prevention and suppression activities.
- Protect life and property during emergency incidents.
- Survey assigned areas and provide detailed activity reports.
- Enforce customer procedures, regulations, and safety standards.
- Maintain a safe environment for patients, co-workers, and the public.
- Participate in other duties as assigned.
- Fire service vehicle operators drive and operate emergency fire service vehicles such as firetrucks.
- They specialise in emergency driving and assist firefighting operations. They ensure that all material is well stored on the vehicle, transported and ready for usage.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience
- HS or GED
- Current and valid EMT certification
- Firefighter Level I
- Driver Operator
- Minimum age: 21 years to operate emergency vehicles.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- Current BLS/CPR certification.
- No disqualifying criminal convictions as defined by state law.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in physically demanding conditions and high-stress environments.
- Technical Rescue (Desired).
- Fire Inspector I (Desired).
