Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Life Safety & Fire Protection Code Consultant to perform on-site code compliance assessments in healthcare facilities. This role involves traveling to hospitals to evaluate existing buildings for compliance with life safety and fire protection codes, documenting deficiencies, and producing accurate, well-organized deliverables that support compliance and corrective action.

The ideal candidate has a relevant Bachelors of Science, with minimal-to-no experience, as this team would rather train somehow on their company policies and procedures from the ground-up. This is a great opportunity for candidates looking to build their experience and career with a strong, competitive company in the Fire Protection field.

Why Apply?

  • Rare entry-level opportunity to break into the life safety & fire protection industry - no prior inspection experience required, and the team prefers to train you from the ground up.
  • Join a top-performing, highly respected firm in a niche, stable industry focused on healthcare facilities across Indiana and Ohio.
  • Work on meaningful, high‑impact projects that directly support safety and compliance within major hospital systems.
  • Clear career growth path, with potential to transition from existing-building assessments into new construction, design review, and high‑profile projects (including billion‑dollar hospital builds).
  • Structured travel schedule (typically one week in the field, one week in-office), with all travel expenses fully covered and minimal weekend requirements.
  • Work in two-person teams for accuracy, mentorship, and ongoing learning - paired with highly knowledgeable staff who support your development.
  • Relaxed, quiet, and supportive office environment on the west side of Indianapolis, balanced with hands-on field work for variety.
  • Great fit for candidates who enjoy problem-solving, building science, fieldwork, and seeing how real buildings come together.
  • Strong industry stability and consistent project workload, supported by long-standing client relationships and reliable funding.

Work Environment

This role will be split between field and office settings, with structured travel typically alternating between one week on-site and one week in-office. Travel primarily occurs within Indiana and Ohio, with all costs covered. Weekend work is rare, only when necessary for travel. Work is typically done in pairs to ensure accuracy, and the office environment is quiet and relaxed, focused on fast-paced production. The office is located on the west side of Indianapolis in a business park.
